Kimberly Halkett, an anchor and reporter for AlJazeera English, spoke to about 100 students, faculty and guests about the international news network and the recent “Arab Spring” uprisings.
The Nov. 7 visit, moderated by VCU Mass Comm faculty member Dr. Marcus Messner, included examples and discussion of Halkett’s work on Capitol Hill in Washington.
Before the presentation, representatives from the VCU student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, who co-sponsored the talk, asked for a moment of silence for Josephine “Josie” Varnier Stone, a spring 2011 VCU journalism graduate who was hit and killed by a car in Richmond on Oct. 28.
