Vivian Medina-Messner joined the School of Mass Communications as a full-time journalism instructor in the fall semester 2011. She teaches writing, reporting, public relations and multimedia classes in the undergraduate and graduate journalism programs.
Prior to entering academia, she worked as a content producer for Media General Interactive (TimesDispatch.com) and as an online producer for MiamiHerald.com. She also worked as a freelance business columnist for Spanish newspaper El Nuevo Herald and worked as a foreign language consultant for the blogging platform Tumblr. She is currently writing a textbook on multimedia reporting for social media.
Medina-Messner earned her B.A. in international communications and international affairs from the American University of Paris and her M.A. in business journalism from Florida International University.
